Job Summary / Basic Function
This position reports as a member of the Office of Student Success and reports directly to the Coordinator of Student Activities. Primary responsibility will be career services and job placement assistance for students. In addition, the Career Services Specialist will aid the Coordinator of Student Activities in the development, implementation and evaluation of all student activities, campus events, off site events, and related community engagements.

Major Essential Job Functions

1. Offer exceptional customer service in a student-centered, professional environment at all times.
2. Stay abreast of current trends and best practices as related to career services.
3. Plan and implement student-centric programs and activities that will enhance LIT students' out-of-classroom experience, with particular emphasis on campus events related to career services.
4. Organize and lead career services training such as resume writing, job interview skills, utilizing internet search engines, using local resources and the LIT Eagle Jobs website.
5. Coordinate, monitor and assist students and outside companies with the use of an electronic job posting site.
6. Serve as the primary administrator for the LIT My Interfase account.

Secondary Essential Job Functions

1. Assist with the production of programs and activities that will enhance the out-of-classroom experience with emphasis on all aspects of campus life, community and student engagement, special events and other cultural, leadership, motivational, and social awareness programs.
2. Work with the Student Government Association officers and their lead advisor. Assist with the orientation of new officers.
3. Serve as an active member on a variety of campus committees when called to service.
4. Assist in the day to day operations of the Office of Student Success when needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution is required.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.

At least 1 year employment experience in an educational institution; 1 year experience in career services; and/or other planning and coordinating services.

While performing the duties of the essential functions of this job, work is normally performed in a typical interior/office/classroom work environment with moderate noise. The environment is subject to change during the course of an event/activity. Expect an increase in student traffic and noise level to occur in a large conference hall setting. Expect frequent travel to public and community venues.

Preferred Qualifications
Key Competencies

•Ability to plan and implement effective student programs related to career services.
•Excellent organizational skills are required as well as a strong ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
•Working knowledge of the college catalog and the student organization handbook.
•Strong computer use, Internet and Microsoft Office Suite skills.
•Valid Texas Driver’s license (Must be willing to attend the DPS approved driver course for use of LIT vehicles).
