Position Summary:
The Student Accessibility Service (SAS) Clerk essential role is to work with students in classes that require specialized knowledge for testing, lab assistance, and provision of accessible formats. The SAS Clerk will provide assistance in all areas of the class and/or subject to ensure that students with disabilities are afforded an equal educational opportunity through the provision of reasonable accommodations.

Minimum Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must have completed the course and received a grade of B or higher.
• Applicant must have completed college courses in one of the following subjects: math, science, music, english, or other specific knowledge based content area needed by the student.
• Recent experience working directly with students with disabilities
• Have flexibility to work with student’s schedule
• Demonstrated knowledge of assistive technology (AT) for people with disabilities
• Ability to function effectively and professionally with faculty, staff, and students
• Work with a diverse population
• Must be competence in oral and written communication skills
• Can not be currently enrolled in the course that the assistance is provided
• Must be detail oriented to ensure exact translation of information from one source to accessible format.
• Be able to follow detailed instructions during a production project without providing assistance.
• Ability to be firm during testing and work activities so that there is no tutoring, teaching, or accidental educational support.
• Be able to work with others and learn new skills based on students needs.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Associate degree preferred
• Prefer work experience teaching, tutoring, or performing group work with others in content area and/or with people with disabilities, specifically blind or physically disabled.
• Experience with creating manipulatives, accessible material of visual information
• Good communication skills for verbal description of visual information (pictures, videos, other sources).
