The NASAD-accredited Art Department of the University of North Alabama seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty position in the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor beginning August 2017. The applicant must hold the Master of Fine Arts in Painting, have a broad understanding of the visual arts, and a strong background in historical and contemporary approaches to painting.

Teaching responsibilities will include all undergraduate levels of painting, drawing, and related 2D studio areas. The successful candidate will demonstrate: strength in exhibition and professional activities; an ability to engage in experiential learning and collaborative initiatives such as community/public art; dedication to teaching excellence and student mentorship; on-going creative endeavors; and a commitment to University and community service. The salary is commensurate with degree and experience.

Established in 1830, the University of North Alabama is the oldest four-year university in the state. UNA is a regional comprehensive university offering a quality education in four colleges: Arts and Sciences, Business, Education and Human Services, and Nursing. The University occupies a beautiful, 130-acre campus in the residential section of Florence, Alabama. On the north bank of the Tennessee River, Florence is the largest city in a four-city area that includes Tuscumbia, Sheffield, and Muscle Shoals, home of the famous “Muscle Shoals Sound.”
