Position Summary: Innovation and entrepreneurship are central to the mission of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and to the university's new strategic framework. The Program in Entrepreneurship is a critical element of the university's plan to make UNC among the top universities for entrepreneurship in the United States. The Executive Director of the Program in Entrepreneurship provides leadership for all activities associated with the Minor in Entrepreneurship (E-Minor) in the Department of Economics and is responsible for advancing wider initiatives on entrepreneurship and innovation. The Executive Director will have the title of Professor of the Practice and Executive Director of the Program in Entrepreneurship, Department of Economics, College of Arts & Sciences. This is a faculty appointment with leadership and administrative responsibilities as the Executive Director of the Minor, and with responsibility for curricular design recommendations for the entrepreneurship program, specifically the E-Minor, and for teaching courses each year with a particular focus in entrepreneurship. The Executive Director is administratively housed in the Department of Economics and reports to the office of the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, with E-Minor administrative and teaching tasks overseen by the Chair of the Department of Economics. The Executive Director of the Program in Entrepreneurship: ; will initiate and implement a strategic plan for appropriate growth within the Minor in Entrepreneurship, as well as for the development of strategic cross-College and cross-campus initiatives focused on innovation and entrepreneurship; ; provide direction for the meetings of the Dean's Working Group on Entrepreneurship, in coordination with the Arts & Sciences Foundation and other E-Minor core faculty; ; lead fund-raising efforts for the E-Minor as part of a broader development effort focused on innovation and entrepreneurship in the College of Arts & Sciences; ; teach two courses or their equivalents in the entrepreneurship curriculum each year; ; manage the curriculum design, enrollment and growth processes of the program effectively, so that students may thrive and succeed; ; ensure appropriate instructional staffing of all courses in the Minor and supervise its day-to- day management and budget.
Education Requirements: PhD or Master's degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualification and Experience: ;Extensive leadership experience in a complex organization ;Experience teaching entrepreneurship to undergraduate students ;Ability to work well with colleagues, students and other diverse constituencies ;Demonstrable experience in innovation and entrepreneurship ;Aptitude for and experience in fund raising ;Strong personal communication skills
