Unit Job Summary: The Associate Director, Administrative & Index Systems is a functional specialist in multiple technical operational and technical areas relevant to CRSP, and serves as a key advisor to senior management relying on Administrative Systems and Index Systems, reporting to the Sr. Director of Finance & Administration. The Associate Director's time is divided between CRSP and CRSP Market Indexes, and supervises technical systems staff supporting CRSP Market Indexes and Administrative Systems. The Associate Director is required to analyze existing systems and tools, design improvements, and provide expert technical and strategic advice to senior management. The Associate Director is responsible for implementing management and security strategy for Index Systems, and is responsible for its hardware and software infrastructure, including the colocation site in Colorado and index-related hardware and software in Chicago. The Associate Director must also collaborate and coordinate activities with the directors of related organizational units, particularly CRSP Systems and Operations. The Associate Director provides technical leadership and primary support for these systems, including serving as primary contact and coordinator with CRSP's third party vendors regarding the installation, customization and support of these systems. The Associate Director will also assist with the development and presentation of client instructional materials and classes/seminars. Secondary responsibilities include providing expert technical advice to management, programming and research staff. Effectively communicates and coordinates with team members, internal departments, project partners, and end-users. S/he reports clearly on project status, goals and completed work.

Unit Education: Master's degree with at least six years of applicable systems and or/programming experience OR a Bachelor's degree with at least eight years applicable systems and/or programming experience required. Degree in computer science or related field preferred. Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE), Cisco Firewall Security Specialist, and/or Cisco VPN Specialist preferred.

Unit Experience: Experience supporting scalable efficient service based applications required. Strong understanding and experience with networks, switches, routers, and firewalls required. Substantive knowledge of systems and administrative applications including Exchange, Active Directory, DM, Outlook, VMware, Symantec Protection Suite, SQL Server, and IIS required. Experience with infrastructure cloud migrations preferred. Experience with the full design and software development life cycle (SDLC), including familiarity with various project management approaches/methodologies, preferred. Experience with Agile development in a collaborative, team-oriented environment preferred.

Unit Job Function Competencies: Demonstrated successful achievements managing systems and infrastructure (hardware) implementation projects utilizing both in house resources and coordinating the activities of third party vendors required. Mastery of software, including one or more of the following: Windows Server, an SQL compliant DBMS, Security applications such as Symantec SEP, Data Base Replication, Windows and Microsoft Office required. Mastery of hardware including VNX Storage, Cisco Unified Computing System, HP Blade enclosure and servers required. Demonstrated competency in network and security including one or more of the following: firewalls, network switching, fiber switching, logical Flex 10 switching and Intrusion Protection required. Demonstrated competency in multiple design and productivity tools including one of more of the following: Visio, Visual Studio, TFS, Jira, Data/Process Modeling, Redgate, Octopus, TeamCity required. Demonstrated competency with various programming and/or scripting tools required, including one or more of the following: C# with SQL Server database and .Net framework, RDBMS, SAS, Visual C++ front-end development in a client-server environment, SQL Services Reporting and Integration Services. A range of skills from among the group preferred. Significant knowledge of various operating systems required. (Current Operating Systems include MS Windows primary; Linux, UNIX secondary.) Excellent verbal and written English communication skills required, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical staff and users/partners. Excellent interpersonal skills required. Strong attention to detail, problem solving/analytical and organizational skills required. Demonstrated ability to work in collaboration with others as well as independently on projects and individual tasks required. Knowledge of Salesforce, Great Plains, OpenText DM and MS Office preferred. Knowledge of Azure and competing cloud services preferred. Familiarity with TCP/IP Networking, data and network security preferred. Familiarity with the securities industry, financial data, CRSP data sources and tools preferred. Knowledge of the mechanics of indices and index-based investment and benchmarking preferred.
