Job Description: A nine-month, tenure track position in the Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies within the College of Health and Human Performance effective August 15, 2017. Expectations include instruction, externally funded scholarly research; participation in research/creative activity and scholarly publication; and service to the university, community, and profession.

Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral degree required with at least one degree in Recreational Therapy/Therapeutic Recreation. It is expected that ABD applicants will have the degree conferred by August 16, 2017. Candidates with Ph.D. conferred at the time of initial appointment will hold the rank of Assistant Professor upon initial appointment. However, candidates with all degree requirements completed at the time of initial appointment, with degree conferral no later than December 2017, will be considered for initial appointment at the probationary rank of Instructor according to university tenure regulations. After conferral of the doctoral degree (December 2017), the appointment rank will become Assistant Professor at the beginning of the spring semester 2018, with no change in timing of reappointment and tenure decisions (also known as "tenure clock"). Applicants must have professional recreational therapy practitioner experience and NCTRC certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS). Applicants must obtain and maintain licensure as a Licensed Recreational Therapist in North Carolina upon employment.
