Degree and Area of Specialization: Bachelor's degree or equivalent required in relevant discipline. Relevant disciplines include: public health, social sciences, social work, public policy, evaluation research or related field.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience: Skills in data management and statistical analysis will be required as part of this team. Basic understanding of social science research methods and approaches is required. Experience and a strong interest in evaluation and applied research, particularly in the areas of community-based substance abuse prevention and/or medication assisted treatment is preferred.
1. Knowledge of data management, entry and cleaning techniques utilizing statistical software such as SPSS, SAS, STATA and Microsoft Access.
2. Knowledge of basic research and/or program evaluation methods.
3. Evidence of organizational, analytical, and professional writing skills.
4. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and assignments.
5. Knowledge of both quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis methods.
Level of appointment will be contingent on relevant work history.
Position Summary: The UW Population Health Institute is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual to support the evaluation of opioid-related prevention and treatment grants. Principal duties of the Research Specialist will include coordinating the collection, implementation, analysis, and maintenance of data for evaluation purposes, including conducting interviews with individuals in recovery. Experience with SPSS and an interest in substance abuse prevention and/or treatment a plus!
