Applications are invited for the position of Program Medical Director in the Laboratory Medicine Program (LMP) at the University Health Network (UHN) in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, a fully affiliated academic hospital of the University of Toronto. The effective start date is September 1, 2017, or a mutually agreed upon date.
The Laboratory Medicine Program at UHN is Canada's largest hospital diagnostic laboratory and one of the largest academic laboratories in the world. The LMP is seeking a visionary leader and proven academic laboratory medicine physician to lead the program and enhance its national and international partnerships. The Program Medical Director is responsible for leading the integration of molecular, genomic, genetics, and proteomic testing and developing a high quality academic lab that will position UHN as a global leader in precision medicine. As Program Medical Director you will build on the research and teaching accomplishments of LMP which is made up of over 70 medical and scientific staff, and over 400 medical laboratory technologists, technicians, phlebotomists, pathologists' assistants and other personnel.

Together with the LMP Executive Director and LMP Executive Team, the Program Medical Director will have a shared responsibility for ensuring that clinical, financial and research targets are accomplished. The candidate must hold an MD and have certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent qualifications and be eligible for licensure in the province of Ontario. The successful candidate should be eligible to hold a full time academic appointment at the rank of Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. The University of Toronto is Canada's largest university, recognized as a global leader in research and teaching. This full time, permanent position remuneration will be in the range of $350,000 - $450,000 and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
