Position Title Student Affairs Processor II – Financial Aid    

Job Description Summary

This position performs specialized duties in support of the college’s financial aid processes. Individual is charged with assembling the success record for access by the Student Affairs Counselor.

Major Duties

•Reviews student applications, determines eligibility, and make financial aid award.
•Complete file verification
•Processes and award loan application
•Process revision requests
•HOPE – SAL Loans processing and reconciliation
•Process Identity Results information in FAA Access
•Updating Undisbursed Aid
•Update Next Gen Documents
•GED Vouchers
•Back Up for Processor III
•Transient (Host and Home)
•Award Scholarships
•Counsel students and parents in regard to financial aid
•Represents financial aid at orientations and open house
•Responds to emails and voicemails
•Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge Required by the Position

•Knowledge of federal, state and institutional policies and procedures related to student financial aid.
•Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
•Knowledge of program eligibility requirements.
•Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
•Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
•Skill in oral and written communication.

Supervisory Controls

Student Affairs – Financial Aid/ Assistant Director/Processing and Default Management assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.

Guidelines

Guidelines include the East Georgia State College Employee Handbook, state and federal regulations, the Higher Education Opportunity Act, The Official Code of Georgia, Institutional Catalog, Student Affairs policies and Board of Regents policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection and interpretation in application

Complexity/Scope of Work

•Frequent regulation changes along with the diverse backgrounds and situations presented by applicants contribute to the complexity of the position.
•The purpose of this position is to provide customer service support for East Georgia State College. Success in this position contributes to the efficient delivery of services to EGSC customers.

Contacts

•Contacts are typically with co-workers, other college personnel, students, parents, high school counselors, and members of the general public.
•Contacts are typically to provide services, to give or exchange information, to resolve problems, or to motivate or influence persons.

Physical Demands

•The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, walking or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects.
•The work is typically performed in an office

Minimum Qualifications

•Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of an associate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
•Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one year of experience or service.
•Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Preferred Qualifications

•Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of an associate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
•Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years of experience or service.
•Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
