ASSOC DIRECTOR SPECIAL PROJECTS
Duties: Work closely with faculty and staff to identify opportunities to implement research-based practices and initiatives to increase diversity in CIS. Work with faculty to tie diversity initiatives to NSF grants through the broadening participation section. Write grant proposals and coordinate grant proposal teams for NSF and private funding to expand increase graduate and undergraduate diversity through the expansion of outreach initiatives both within and external to Penn.
Provide leadership and implementation organization to the current SEAS/CIS outreach initiatives, including WICS High School Day for Girls, Penn Emerging Scholars Program, Girls Who Code clubs, Aspirations in Computing award for high school girls, Grace Hopper Conference gold sponsorship, regional Grace Hopper Conference with PA., Maryland and Virginia colleges and universities through the Capital Women in Computing initiative (CAPWIC), Google AspireIt project, and NCWIT Pacesetters commitment.
Apply for diversity awards to increase Penn Engineering's visibility nationwide. Invite distinguished speakers to campus to educate, motivate and encourage students and faculty.
Mentor the Women in Computer Science (WICS) club and the graduate CISters and CISters-Masters organizations. Secure funding to support the initiatives and events of WICS and CISters.
Assist the Associate Director as needed in developing and scheduling faculty cases. Assist with developing a quarterly online newsletter for CIS; maintain CIS Teachers and Guidance Counselors email lists.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Proven track record in fund raising, research and program development and implementation; evidence of research skills and research experience.
