Duties: The primary goals of Wharton's Communication Program have been to help MBA and PhD students become more effective communicators. A new goal is to extend our teaching to Wharton undergraduates. In addition, the Communication Program offers help to Wharton faculty who want to improve their teaching.

The Associate Director of the Wharton Communication Program works closely with the Director and other Associate Directors to support the Program's mission including: leading the Program's Teaching Quality Initiative to coach Communication lecturers; teaching MBA and soon to be Undergraduate students the required Management Communication courses; assisting with design and possible responsibility for components of the core curricula for Wharton MBAs and Undergraduates; offering optional help to faculty to help improve teaching; and managing the communication coaching program for Wharton PhD students.
Specific responsibilities include:
o Lead the Teaching Quality Initiative. This includes providing training and coaching for all Communication Program Lecturers aimed at improving core course quality. We will need to hire and train lecturers in anticipation of Undergraduate curriculum full roll-out, mandated to begin Fall 2018. By Fall 2018 we expect to have approximately 50-60 lecturers - includes part-time and full-time.
o Teach the required courses for MBA and Undergraduate students.
o Work with Director and Associate Directors on development and improvement of core course design and delivery. This may involve responsibility for components of the MBA and/or new Undergraduate communication course.
o Manage Wharton PhD communication coaching program. Includes hiring, training and supervising 6-8 Lecturers. This also includes designing and implementing the first-year seminar, and managing coaching sessions for PhD research presentations and job talks.
o Offer optional help to faculty who are interested in improving their teaching. This includes advising faculty on teaching strategies including effective discussion-leading and lecturing.
o Manage curriculum and logistics for one, possibly two guest speakers for the Wemba ('MBA for Executives') core Management Communication course.

Qualifications: A Masters degree and 7 years to 10 years of experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong oral and written communication skills required. Strong preference for business experience and for teaching experience at the graduate school level. Preference for candidates who have coaches others to teach at the graduate school level. Strong interpersonal skills with a proven track record of working successfully and collegially in a fast-paced work environment.
