The University of Virginia Department of Psychology invites applications for a position as a postdoctoral Research Associate. Candidates are sought to conduct research on Health and Development in Sexual Minority Populations. The successful candidate will work on longitudinal studies of life course development and social determinants of physical and mental health in LGBTQ populations, and will be mentored by Dr. Charlotte J. Patterson, with opportunities to collaborate with other faculty members as appropriate to the successful candidate's interests. Research activities will include analysis of longitudinal data, authoring and coauthoring manuscripts based on research findings, presentation of findings at conferences, and collaborating on ongoing projects and grant proposals. This is a one-year appointment, with the potential for renewal for up to two additional one year appointments, contingent upon available funding and satisfactory performance.
To be eligible, candidates must hold a relevant doctoral degree, preferably in the social, behavioral, or health sciences, prior to the date of initial appointment, or must have completed all requirements for the doctoral degree. Candidates must have excellent written, analytical, and oral communication skills. Experience conducting research on sexual minority populations is required, and experience with longitudinal data analysis is preferred. Anticipated start date in late summer or early fall 2017.
