Degree and Area of Specialization: PhD required in a quantitatively oriented field of study pertinent to health services research or epidemiological applications.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience: 1+ years of post-doctoral experience in research in aging, epidemiology, biostatistics, health services research, or other comparable area, required.
Applicants should have strong expertise in quantitative research methods. Additional experience in qualitative research methods would be valued.
Applicants must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English and be able to work with community and academic collaborators independently.
It is preferred that the applicant have the ability to conceive of a set of hypotheses, select the requisite methods to test the hypotheses, make appropriate conclusions about the results, and present the findings in published manuscripts and at scientific meetings. As the setting is highly collaborative and multi-disciplinary, it is preferred that the incumbent be able to work within an extended team. Experience in grant proposal writing is preferred.
Position Summary: The incumbent will serve 90% time as a Research Scientist with Dr. Manish Shah's lab, which develops, tests, and implements novel models of emergency care to improve the health and well-being of older adults.
The incumbent will serve 10% time serving as an internal research methods consultant for members of the Department of Emergency Medicine and assisting with educational programs (e.g., research fellowship).
