Position Summary

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Undergraduate Studies (AVPUS), the Coordinator of Special Projects works collaboratively with the Undergraduate Studies directors and staff members to advance projects in support of the mission of the University and of Undergraduate Studies. The Coordinator convenes relevant faculty and staff to develop solutions to emergent needs, particularly when those needs can best be addressed collectively and not by a single office. Projects include but are not limited to: analyzing and expanding current programs, creating new programs, and coordinating initiatives including MSU Denver’s involvement in national initiatives. The Coordinator will be able to work independently within a complex organization and will understand how to develop programs that address the needs of students from diverse backgrounds.

Salary for Announcement

The hiring salary range begins at $48, 484. The final salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

30% Support, Develop, and Expand Programming: Support planning and development related to specific initiatives including: program expansion and development; convening and facilitating planning and strategy work groups and committees; developing timelines and implementation strategies; coordination of events; and preparing materials for review by leadership.
20% Implementation and Management: Assist in the implementation and management of various University-wide and, when necessary, college- or branch-specific initiatives. Duties include but are not limited to preparing agenda and briefing materials, producing meeting reports, developing communication strategies relevant to the initiative, tracking and completing follow-up.
20% Needs Assessment: Under the direction of the AVPUS and in collaboration with the Coordinator of Data Management for Undergraduate Studies, identify and substantiate emerging needs with an emphasis on those that can best be addressed by collective action across functional units. Duties include but are not limited to participation on Undergraduate Studies and University committees in order to facilitate gathering information and input from broad constituent groups.
20% Outreach Strategies: In collaboration with Marketing & Communications, develop strategies to communicate with relevant stakeholders about progress of ongoing initiatives and projects. Maintain the Undergraduate Studies Web site(s) and coordinate training for Undergraduate Studies offices on Web site maintenance / enhancement.
10% Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Three years of work experience in a professional setting post-bachelor’s degree.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to work independently.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Experience managing large or complex projects.
• Experience managing and updating websites.
• Experience convening groups of constituents and collaborating to achieve goals.
• Experience creating programs or supportive services.
• Experience or knowledge of best practices used to support the persistence of students of diverse backgrounds.
• Experience coordination training, events or meetings.
