The Information Technology department is seeking an Intermediate Programmer to participate in the design, implementation, and configuration of research systems at the University of Miami. The Intermediate Programmer will be involved in all phases of the software development life cycle; this includes defining and documenting requirements, application design, implementation, testing and quality assurance, in accordance with programming standards and SOPs. Job Duties: Responsible for development and implementation of moderately-complex computer programs. Analyzes informational needs through user interviews to clearly define requirements/problems. Develops systems requirements for review and acceptance of management. Analyzes possible system alternatives in relationship to business need, costs, effectiveness, and information availability requirements. Develops or assists in the development of General Systems Designs. Develops or assists in the development of Detailed Systems Design which support the system requirements and business needs. Assists in the creation of project time estimates. Develops computer programs, policies, procedures, and forms needed to support application design. Develops and executes program unit and system testing. Implements application programs and databases. Develops and implements application documentation and user training materials. Provides post implementation support of user questions and fine tuning of application. Maintains communications with management and users during development or maintenance cycle. Coordinates users' activities during application development and maintains data and system integrity. Maintains knowledge on current computer hardware and software technology. Provides for appropriate user interfaces for report development. Assists in developing appropriate indexing and promoting structures for reporting databases. Other duties as assigned.

The minimum requirements are: Requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or related field. Master’s Degree desirable. 4 to 6 years of programming experience. Previous experience with .Net and/or Java development preferred. Experience with SQL, stored procedures, views, and functions in MS SQL Server and/or Oracle environment. Systems development and implementation experience. Ability to communicate ideas and problem solutions. Ability to effectively work with people in other departments and/or outside of the enterprise. Must be self-motivated. Good written and verbal communication skills required. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.

Patient safety is a top priority.
