Lecturer of Philosophy
Founded in 1853, Central College of Pella, Iowa, is a private, residential four-year liberal arts college known for its academic rigor and strength in global experiential learning, STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), sustainability education, athletics success and tradition, and leadership and service. POSITION: One year (non-tenure line) lecturer appointment beginning August 2017
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: August 2017-May 2018
QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in philosophy, outstanding ABD applicants will be considered. Area of competence in Classical Greek and Medieval Philosophy, with an ability to teach ethics and political philosophy. Candidates should have a broad background in the History of Philosophy and be able to teach introductory classes.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Applicants should be committed to undergraduate teaching. The successful candidate will teach introductory and advanced courses in philosophy to majors and non-majors, including courses that fulfill the core requirement for all students in Literature and Philosophy. Potential applicants should be committed to undergraduate teaching, and have an understanding of, and appreciation for, the liberal arts environment.
