Assistant Director, Clinical Applications

Determine the strategic direction regarding the use and practical applications of technology within SHC and GNU global health network. Work with staff to ensure optimization of clinical application solutions to enable the delivery of safe, effective and high quality patient care. Manage the entire project life cycle for health information system implementation initiatives for an integrated health system. In partnership with the SHC Assistant Director, Information Technology, plan and manage multiple medium to large projects using resources from NYU Student Health Center Information Technology Services (SHC ITS), clinical and vendor teams as well as Senior Staff. Provide clinical subject matter expertise to translate data into information and actionable knowledge in the daily clinical and counseling practices. Research and recommend new applications and solutions for strategic and tactical clinical needs. Serve as primary liaison to the clinical user community by providing direction and education on clinical information technology initiatives.Required Education:
Bachelors' degree in computer science or equivalent

Preferred Education:
Bachelor degree in Nursing; New York State Registered Nurse License and/or Masters Degree in Health Informatics

Required Experience:
4-6 years' progressively responsible experience in health informatics systems including a systems or project management role of 2 -3 years. Experience with design and implementation of information systems in health care, and leading complex, interdisciplinary projects that include various health care providers, administrators and information system professionals.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Strong analytical, process flow, interviewing and problem-solving skills; ability to understand technology concepts (application and infrastructure architecture) Ability to provide technical advice to a non-technical audience. Knowledge of current and emerging information technologies and systems including systems development, data warehousing, a variety of operating systems, and large database applications.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Experience developing and implementing complex project plans.
