Open Faculty Positions in Comparative Liberal Studies for Fall 2017
Habib University seeks faculty applications for its program in Comparative Liberal Studies (CLS) in the School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. The program is a global first and seeks to institutionalize the paradigm shifts in the humanities over the past half century in a postcolonial context. Through a comparative approach broadly defined, and across humanistic forms of knowledge, the program seeks to cultivate a strenuous transdisciplinary and global universality, including through Habib University’s flagship Liberal Core to which CLS is closely linked.
We are inviting applications for multiple, open-rank positions from candidates with strong research and teaching credentials who will participate in the development of minors in the fields of history, philosophy and religious studies - and eventually a major in CLS - as well as substantially contributing to the teaching of Habib’s Liberal Core. The program is committed to pluralism in formal disciplinary qualification and methodological approach, and welcomes quality applications from across the humanities; however, those formally qualified in the fields of History, Philosophy, and Religious Studies, are especially encouraged to apply. All candidates should demonstrate a transdisciplinary approach to research and pedagogy. Successful candidates can anticipate the course load not to exceed 3-2. Recruitment is rolling, with appointments beginning on August 1, 2017. Candidates in the final stages of their Ph.D. may also apply.
Successful candidates will bear the following profile:
- Doctoral degree
- Excellent teaching and scholarly credentials
- Passion for undergraduate education
- Intellectual curiosity
- Ability to work well in teams in an interdisciplinary environment
Applications from women candidates are highly encouraged. Experience of having studied and/or worked in a U.S. style, liberal arts environment would be highly preferred.
