The Accounting Area at the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia is seeking applications for a General Faculty-Lecturer in Commerce position for the Fall semester of 2016 to teach multiple sections. Instructional responsibilities would primarily be undergraduate introductory financial accounting courses with an average section size of 125 students. The strongest candidates will have demonstrated excellence in teaching accounting at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The candidate for this position must possess an MBA or M.S. degree in a related business field or higher (e.g., Ph.D. in Accounting).
Currently, the McIntire School of Commerce (http://www.commerce.virginia.edu) awards a Bachelor of Science in Commerce, a Master of Science in the Management of Information Technology, a Master of Science in Accounting, and Master of Science in Commerce. McIntire is recognized for excellence and innovation in undergraduate and graduate business education and scholarship. In the 2014 annual ranking of undergraduate business programs, Business Week magazine ranked the McIntire School of Commerce second in the nation; the only school to be ranked amongst the top two every year since the list's inception.
McIntire serves over 650 undergraduates and 300 graduate students. Undergraduate students enter the McIntire School in their third year at the University and concentrate in at least one of six fields: accounting, finance, information technology, international business, management and/or marketing. The major professional services firms (e.g., accounting, consulting, IT services, and investment banks) and Fortune 500 corporations actively recruit McIntire graduates. McIntire is located in a 156,000 square foot academic complex on the Lawn in the heart of UVA's historic Central Grounds, designed by Thomas Jefferson.
