Posting Information: The Associate Director serves as the Deputy to the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Institutional Planning & Effectiveness in the areas of Institutional Research and Analytics. This position directs the work of individuals to perform data analysis, reporting, and interpretation. It is responsible for leading WCU's institutional research and reporting initiatives, assessing the overall impact across campus and overseeing institutional and state-mandated IR responsibilities. The analytical requirements for this position are extensive with decisions impacting the entire university.

Minimum Training & Experience Requirements: Master's Degree in Business, Higher Education, Management, Public Administration, Information Technology, Math, Statistics or related field with a minimum of five years' experience in higher education institutional research (IR), part of which may be in information technology (IT). Proven experience with institutional research offices' responsibilities for state/federal reporting mandates, institutional reporting needs, data collections/submissions/analyses. Demonstrated knowledge of data analytics and its use in higher education and research. Proven experience working with data warehouses, data visualization platforms, and/or predictive analytics with general knowledge of various computer architectures, operating systems and programming languages. Expert knowledge and use of relational databases. Demonstrated SAS or SQL programming experience. Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated budget development experience. Project management experience, and direct staff supervision experience. Proven ability to plan and manage short and long-term institutional research and/or business intelligence projects. Experience working in or with an information Technology Department.

Preferred Qualifications: Preferred qualifications include ten or more years' experience in higher education data analysis and reporting; experience in a public institution working directly with a system-wide central IR office or legislative body; experience with Banner by Ellucian, Blackboard Analytics and Microsoft PowerBI.
