Under the general direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Auxiliary Services, the incumbent serves as a member of the Auxiliary Services Management Team with senior-level management responsibility for strategic planning, goal setting, organizational development, and budget coordination for Dining, Hospitality & Retail Services (DHRS) at UC Riverside. The Executive Director of DHRS provides leadership and direction to a supervisory team of 50. The incumbent also oversees the supervision of approximately 700+ student employees and 115 FTE food service personnel responsible for the day-to-day operations which includes Residential Dining Centers, Residential Satellite, multiple Campus Retail Restaurants, Convenience Stores, Food Trucks, Concessions, Catering, Conferencing and Child Care meals with a $32.6 million per year total operating budget. The program also includes oversight of retail businesses which includes the Bookstore, specialty foods and vending.
Intermediate computer applications skills.

Advanced decision making and reasoning skills, and advanced ability to develop original ideas to solve problems, conduct operations analysis and quality control analysis.
Advanced knowledge in food service operations and sanitation regulations.

Superior communication skills to effectively and professionally communicate with internal and external campus community in a highly professional manner both verbally and in writing. Skill to communicate effectively to discuss improvement, to solve problems, and to follow through with implementing solutions.
Proven skill to work independently, initiating innovative new programs, unit growth, development and change.
Demonstrated leadership, and human resource management skills, knowledge and experience to effectively administer and manage within a diverse and complex organization including recruitment, hiring, evaluation, compensation, time management, training, and safety programs.
Ability to use sound judgment focusing on key issues, weighing priorities, and considering reasonable alternatives prior to making decisions.
Skill in exporting/importing data from or to different software applications for data collection and retrieval.
Skill in creating spreadsheets and reports using Word, Excel, FileMaker Pro or other software applications.
Knowledge of food service operations management, including cost control and expense analysis, strategic planning, labor scheduling, production, purchasing, food purchasing, and meal plan control.
Demonstrated skill to create performance standards and incentive programs to increase morale, attendance, and productivity.
Advanced computer skills with menu and inventory management systems skills to administer and manage food service systems.
