Visiting Assistant Professor of Data Science, MassMutual Faculty Fellow
The Program in Statistical and Data Sciences at Smith College invites applications for a non-tenure-track Visiting Assistant Professor of Data Science to begin July 1, 2017. The term of this position is two years. This position is a part of a partnership with MassMutual for Women in Data Science, and comes with a reduced teaching load, competitive salary and benefits, and the title "Visiting Assistant Professor of Data Science, MassMutual Faculty Fellow".
Candidates must have a Ph.D. (by September 1, 2017) in statistics, biostatistics, computer science, or a closely related field, and must provide evidence of excellence in teaching and of an active research program. Fields of particular interest include but are not limited to: machine learning, data mining, databases, data visualization, and high-performance computing. The candidate will be expected to participate in the teaching of statistics and of data science, and to participate in strengthening our interdisciplinary program and major in Statistical and Data Sciences at the College.
The Faculty Fellow will teach three courses per year in data science at Smith, as well as one continuing education course each year for MassMutual data scientists at the company's nearby Amherst, MA premises. Faculty Fellows may also have the opportunity to engage with MassMutual in sponsored research.
