Visiting Teaching Assistant Professor
The Daniel Felix Ritchie School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Denver is creating the future of technology by providing an education emphasizing cross-disciplinary knowledge. Faculty members are creating multidisciplinary education and research programs which anticipate technological trends in research and industry. Students conduct leading edge research which combines traditional engineering and computer science with emerging disciplines to create unique solutions to old and new problems and opportunities. The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering in the Daniel Felix Ritchie School of Engineering and Computer Science offers BS, MS and /or PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, General Engineering, and Materials Science.
The Department invites applications for a full-time, temporary, non-tenure track Visiting Teaching Assistant Professor position for the academic year 2017-2018, beginning September 1, 2017. The appointment is for one year and non-renewable. The successful applicant will have a passion for teaching and a demonstrated ability to teach introductory and higher level undergraduate, and possibly graduate elective courses in mechanical engineering. In addition to teaching, the successful applicant will actively participate in meetings and student advising, and participate in Department and University service as needed.This position is responsible for teaching introductory and higher level undergraduate courses, and possibly graduate elective courses, in mechanical engineering. Duties include six courses per year plus service, or seven courses per year (including summer) with no service. At least 90% of the time will be devoted to teaching and service. This position is not expected to perform research or produce scholarship.
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum of one year of classroom experience.
- Two years of experience teaching undergraduate courses.
