Chief Diversity Officer
Three State University of New York community colleges in the Hudson Valley (SUNY Sullivan, SUNY Ulster and SUNY Orange) are jointly seeking to hire a Chief Diversity Officer (CDO). This position is an exempt senior management level position, reporting directly to the respective College presidents at each of the three campuses. The CDO is a shared leadership position through a unique and mutually beneficial shared-services arrangement between the three colleges. Catering to the distinct demographics within its own County, each College provides a diverse and robust curriculum that includes academic degrees and certificates, workforce development, personal enrichment and lifelong learning. The Colleges proudly produce graduates prepared to enter the workforce or transfer to four-year colleges and universities in search of advanced degrees. Graduates, students and residents also gain the life skills necessary to become productive members of society.
The CDO is expected to become an institutional change agent for each of the three Colleges, providing leadership and vision to the presidents in the delivery of a comprehensive range of services, policies, and procedures related to equity in diversity and inclusive excellence.
The CDO will participate in all aspects of institutional planning at each campus, supporting each campus' respective mission and goals. He/she will also assist the colleges in meeting the needs of their diverse student, faculty and staff populations, while at the same time helping to develop teaching, learning and working environments where all are welcomed and offered the opportunity to succeed.
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to community college goals, with a proven track record of providing quality programs and services for culturally, socio-economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students, and student with disabilities. The successful candidate must also possess the personal qualities required to work effectively and with sensitivity in a multicultural environment, and demonstrate an understanding of, sensitivity to and appreciation for, the academic, ethnic, socio-economic, disability and gender diversity of students and staff attending or working on the community college campuses of SUNY Sullivan, SUNY Ulster and SUNY Orange.
Requirements: Master's degree in a discipline directly related to the position or a bachelor's with direct and relevant experience in a higher education setting and a commitment to attaining a master's degree. Juris Doctor (J.D.) with relevant experience are also welcome to apply. Three to five years of professional work experience related to the position.

Salary: $80-$85,000 per annum. Initial salary placement will be commensurate with education, training and experience.
