The Department of Accounting at Appalachian State University invites applications for one tenure-track nine-month faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor beginning Fall 2017, subject to funding. The requirements for this position include the earned Ph. D. in Accounting or equivalent from an AACSB accredited institution and demonstrated potential for quality teaching and research. Candidates who are ABD may be considered, but the position requires completion of all doctoral requirements by September 15, 2017. Preference will be given to candidates with relevant teaching and professional business experience and professional certification(s). Candidates with teaching interests in managerial accounting at both the graduate and undergraduate level are preferred, but candidates with other areas of expertise will be considered.  Instructional duties will include a normal teaching load of nine credit hours per semester, curriculum development, participation in the program’s assurance of learning efforts, and may include on-line instruction and/or instruction at off-campus sites. In addition to instructional duties, faculty members are expected to maintain an active program of scholarship as well as participate in service activities.


The John A. Walker College of Business is AACSB accredited and has an enrollment of over 2,900 students in its undergraduate and graduate programs. The Department of Accounting has an enrollment of approximately 400 undergraduate majors and over 50 students seeking the M.S. degree. The department has 22 full-time faculty members.
