Posting Date: 07-30-2013

Posting Summary:
The Department of Cell Biology at the University of Virginia seeks a Research Scientist to work in Dr. Barry Hinton's laboratory using fluorescence microscopy, in vitro organ culture, Real Time PCR and immunolocalization approaches to study Wolffian duct elongation and folding. In addition, the candidate will generate various conditional mutations of genes in mice that affect Wolffian duct development. The goal is to examine the role of genes and their downstream signaling targets that regulate Wolffian duct tubular morphogenesis. These studies integrate basic cell and advanced molecular biology with confocal microscopy to examine Wolffian duct development. This person will also supervise undergraduate students and work with technicians and other postdoctoral fellows.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. and 3-5 years' postdoctoral experience in cell biology, imaging and advanced cell culture methods. The candidate should also be familiar with approaches designed to examine the function of reproductive tissues. Expertise in recombinant DNA methods and imaging are strongly preferred.
