The Department of Pharmacology at the University of Virginia is seeking a Laboratory Technician 2 to assist Investigators with experiments designed to develop, optimize and validate drug delivery and imaging modalities for cancer.
The incumbent is expected to design in vitro, cell-based and whole organism experiments to determine the efficacy and safety of these nanoscale formulations. He/She will assist Senior Investigators with daily laboratory management, train junior research staff, assist laboratory members with experimental design, perform data management/visualization and assist with manuscript/grant compilation.
Qualified candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Material Sciences or a related field. A minimum of 2 years laboratory experience in an academic or industrial laboratory setting is required (relevant student experience will be considered). Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel), and GraphPad Prism is required.
This position is restricted and contingent upon the continuation of funding.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Skillset in cellular and molecular biology, sterile cell culture techniques and bioengineering and/or material sciences are necessary. Knowledge of rodent models of cancer. Ability to work with research animals.
