General Summary: The University of North Georgia invites applications for a ten-month, full-time, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Biology. The successful applicant will be a biologist broadly trained in bioinformatics. Applicant must demonstrate expertise in data generation and analysis.

Job Duties & Responsibilities: Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching undergraduate courses including majors biology, genetics, and courses in specialty area
  • Scholarly work involving undergraduates
  • Advising students
  • Service to the department, university, and community
  • Professional development
  • Summer teaching positions are often available

Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
  • Ph.D. in biology at the time of hire.
  • Teaching experience at the college level is preferred.
  • Preference will be given to those who demonstrate expertise in the mathematical and/or computational aspects of bioinformatics.
  • Preference given to candidates that generate data (i.e., do more than mine public databases).
  • Expectations for this position are that 60% of the workload is dedicated to teaching and that 40% is divided between service and professional development.
