The department of Romance, German, and Slavic Languages and Literatures at The George Washington University invites applications for two full-time renewable, non-tenure accruing appointments at the rank of Teaching Instructor to begin as early as August 1, 2017 with an initial three-year appointment. Appointment renewal is contingent on successful performance.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, depending on needs in a given year: 6 courses per year (three each semester) plus curriculum development/maintenance; design, implementation, and evaluation of syllabi and assessment instruments; instructor supervision and training; collaboration with Language Study Abroad faculty directors; coordination of student placement; and participation in professional development programs or seven courses per year (4 one semester, 3 the other semester) but without additional coordination duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

Degree (M.A, Ph.D.) in Spanish Linguistics, Spanish Pedagogy, Second Language Acquisition, or similar field; demonstrated teaching excellence (student evaluations, classroom observations, other); excellent working (professional) command of English and Spanish (oral and written); experience teaching at the U.S. university level, demonstrated ability to work with task-based and content-based pedagogy; experience with instructor supervision; extensive knowledge of instructional technology applied to classroom language pedagogy.
