Posting Summary:
The Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology at the University of Virginia, seeks multiple Research Associate candidates to work in the laboratory of Dr. Rahul Sharma, PhD. The Sharma lab focuses on identifying the mechanisms of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases with emphasis on T-regulatory cells and related anti-inflammatory therapeutic approaches.

Candidates must have a PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Immunology or a related discipline and a proven ability to lead a project and supervise and train laboratory personnel in a collaborative setting. Duties also include the formulation and testing of hypotheses; critical analysis of data; preparation of manuscripts and grant proposals; making presentations at local, regional and national levels. Therefore, excellent communication and writing skills are required. The candidate must have hands-on and published experience with animal models of tissue injury and inflammation. Incumbents who have demonstrated experience in rodent survival surgery, adoptive cell therapy, multi-color flow cytometry, immunofluorescence microscopy, cellular immunology, cytokine signaling, genetic manipulations and purification of recombinant proteins are highly preferred.
