Position Summary: The Lee lab at Michigan State University is seeking of a highly motivated researcher to work on an exciting area in lipid and health. The Lee Lab focuses on designing new molecular probes and using the state-of-the-art instrumentations to study the signaling mechanism of lipid metabolites on human health. The researcher will primarily work on the design and synthesis of the mimics of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acid metabolites; and determine their efficacy with variety of cell-based assays. The candidate will also assist in experiments planning and data collection and analyses. The successful applicant will also train and supervise students. The candidate will also responsible to publish the result and will assist in grant preparation.
Faculty: Minimum Qualifications Support Staff: Minimum Requirements -A Ph.D. in biological science (Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Chemical Biology or related field) with strong background in synthetic chemistry, preferably in the synthesis of polyunsaturated system and/ or SAR and lead optimization.
-Proficient English writing and communication skills.
-Productivity will be determined by peer-reviewed publications in the international scientific journals
Typing Requirements (wpm):
Desired Qualifications: -Expertise in running cell-based assay and / or in purifying, identifying and characterizing proteins are highly preferable.
-Experience in preparative and analytical HPLC for compound purification is desirable but not necessary.
-Willingness to work with radioactive compounds.
-Ability to independently solve the scientific problem and design and conduct experiment.
