Duties: The Young Quakers Community Athletics (YQCA) Associate Director will implement the range of activities that comprise the YQCA program and work with the team to develop improvements and new partnerships. The position will report to the Director of YQCA. YQCA is a partnership between Penn's Barbara and Edward Netter Center for Community Partnerships and Penn's Division of Recreation and Intercollegiate Athletics. This initiative, directed through Netter's University-Assisted Community Schools program (UACS), creates mutually beneficial partnerships between select Penn intercollegiate athletic teams and UACS partner sites, which are West Philadelphia public schools. A major component of the Netter Center's work is mobilizing the vast resources of the University to help transform traditional neighborhood schools into innovative university-assisted community schools (UACS). University-Assisted Community Schools engage students (K-16+) in real world, community problem solving. The YQCA Associate Director will contribute to the field of sports-based youth development and UACS broadly by conducting research and presenting it to partners and to visitors to the Netter Center from around the world. The YQCA Associate Director will be tasked to increase and integrate the partnership resources that support the program (including partnerships for evaluation, ABCS courses, workstudy students and interns).

YQCA offers unique leadership and partnership opportunities for Penn student-athletes and K-8 student-athletes. Members of the Penn teams teach athletic, teamwork, and leadership skills while providing mentorship and academic support. The program involves Penn student-athletes and coaches, Netter Center staff, UACS students and their parents/guardians, and UACS principals and teachers.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree and 2 years to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience must include work with both Division I athletics teams and with K-8 youth and youth sports program implementation. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in supporting university-school partnerships, academically based community service (ABCS) courses, and athletic partnerships. Experience in developing curricula and lesson plans for K-8 student athletic programs is required. Experience working with evaluation partners and data collection is required. Track record of both self-directed and team-oriented accomplishments is essential. Organized, detail-oriented, accurate, dependable, and flexible. Experience in supervising part-time coaches who work with K-8 youth is a plus. Knowledge about Penn and West Philadelphia preferred.
