Job Announcement:
The Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering department of Computer Science is seeking applicants for a full- time, non-tenure-track teaching position to primarily teach graduate-level courses on topics in the field of cyber security. The MS in Cyber Security Engineering program is focused on teaching students how to build and analyze highly secure systems, and is based on a foundation of sound scientific and engineering security principles.

The successful candidate will have a commitment to teaching excellence. They will teach cyber security materials in a variety of modes including but not limited to classroom instruction, laboratory instruction, directing projects, and assisting with student research and internships. The teaching load is typically three to four courses per semester (which could include spring, summer, and fall semesters, depending on the agreed upon contract period). The successful candidate will also participate in the design, development, and setup of instructional and research laboratories and of curriculum.

Qualified candidates will demonstrate:
• Mastery of the reference monitor as a unifying principle for understanding and creating trustworthy solutions
• Thorough understanding of theory of computation, including non-computability
• Ability to program in assembly language and structured high order language

Candidates should have a strong background in one or more of the following areas:
• Hardened platforms
• High assurance software engineering
• Formal methods for program specification and verification
• Secure network technologies
• Authentication methods and tools
• Computer network operations topics
• Cryptographic methods, theory and tools
• Secure operating systems and security kernels
• Modern computer architectures
• Secure processor technologies, including instruction set architecture based on hardware segmentation and protection rings
• Information security policies and criteria development
• Digital and network forensics
• Assessment and formal evaluation
• Trusted systems and standards
• Proven verifiable protection of truly trustworthy high assurance security designed to substantially address the problems of adversarial attacks that include software and hardware subversion

Other Requirements

Required Education:
Ph.D., or equivalent, in relevant field
5-10 years of professional experience required for a Professor of Practice position but not for a clinical faculty position

Preferred Experience:
Teaching and research experience
Ability to acquire a U.S. Government clearance
