Wanted: Lecturer/Teaching Assistant Professor in Sales and Advertising

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

If you are passionate about sales education and are ready to teach in one of the top advertising departments in the world, the Charles H. Sandage Department of Advertising at the University of Illinois is looking for you! We invite applications for a full-time, non-tenure track position at the rank of Lecturer of Teaching Assistant Professor. This is a twelve-month appointment with a proposed start date of January 16, 2017 or August 16, 2017. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Your primary mission will be to educate and motivate our bright undergraduate students inside and outside the classroom. Inside the classroom, you will be teaching up to eight courses a year, including online offerings. These courses comprise a certificate in sales that many students pursue in addition to their major in Advertising. Outside the classroom and together with the Department Head, you will be building relationships with corporate partners, in order to expand internship and career opportunities for graduates of the sales program. You will be pursuing these academic goals in a pleasant college-town community with a modest cost of living and easy access to the Chicago, Minneapolis and St. Louis metropolitan areas.

Candidates with a Ph.D. by time of appointment will be considered as a Teaching Assistant Professor; Master's candidates will be considered as a Lecturer. The successful candidate will have extensive professional experience in sales, advertising, public relations or related discipline. Online teaching experience, in addition to traditional classroom teaching experience, is not required but will be highly regarded.

About Us:

The Department of Advertising at the University of Illinois was established in 1959 by Charles H. Sandage, considered by many to be the "father of advertising education." Today, the Charles H. Sandage Department of Advertising celebrates Sandage's legacy and his vision with a program that is broad enough that students learn critical, analytical and problem-solving skills, yet is also professionally relevant. Our faculty incorporates these values in teaching and scholarship that is focused on understanding, evaluating and communicating the many facets of advertising. We offer B.S. and M.S. degrees in advertising.
