Job Description Summary:

The Case Manager must take great pride in his/her work and possess the ability to meet stringent deadlines that are critical to the work of the Title IX Office. The Case Manager will support the Title IX Office with high level paralegal support and case management - ensuring timely communication and documentation in our case management systems of Title IX complaints; communicate with partners in the Office of Safety and Security, Division of Student Affairs and the Office of General Counsel regarding cases under investigation; and communication with parties regarding case updates. The Paralegal/Case Manager must be a highly organized, persistent problem solver in order to thrive in this environment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Assists with prompt, equitable and impartial complaint intake and preliminary assessments for alleged victim/survivors. Provides clear information to alleged victims about the investigatory process, including the parties rights and options in the process, right to confidentiality, right to contact law enforcement, etc..

Serves as the point of contact and maintains regular communication with parties to provide updates on the status of cases. Provides referrals to available on and off campus resources to include education, counseling services and other support systems available.

Prepares chronologies and other analyses, and draft correspondence, case summaries, and briefing memos in support of equity compliance complaints

Manages the case management system/database and coordinates with the Title IX Coordinator, the Office of Safety and Security and Division of Student Affairs to maintain equitable and compliant data

Collaborates closely with the Title IX investigator regarding the status of cases; identifying and integrating best practices in the investigation

Drafts case-related correspondence with parties and witnesses.

Tracks work flow of complaints and requests for accommodations to be sure that they are processed in a timely manner. Analyzes trends and develops strategies to improve processes and outreach efforts.

Assists Title IX Response Coordinator with scheduling and tracking program development and training.

Performs other work duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning tasks logically related to the position

Minimum Qualifications:

Paralegal certification and two years of experience or a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree or certificate in Paralegal Studies from an accredited institution.

Two plus years of experience of progressively increasing responsibility are preferred. Additional experience may substitute for required education and additional education may substitute for experience.

Candidates must possess strong interpersonal, analytical, writing, computer, organization, and verbal skills, and must have the ability to work effectively and collegially on a small team with a significant workload.

Paralegal Certification preferred. Experience working with a case management system such as Advocate or Sharepoint is preferred. Experience working on Title IX statutes matters preferred. Experience in higher education helpful.
