The Department of Health Policy and Management in the Milken Institute School of Public Health at the George Washington University is seeking applicants for the position of Director for the Masters of Health Administration Residential Program. This is a tenured or tenure-track faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor level (12-month appointment). The successful candidate will direct the Program's growth and development, teach in the Department's academic programs; provide insight from their own management and leadership experience as well as mentor and advise masters degree students; engage in a vibrant research agenda; collaborate closely with faculty who specialize in health policy research, establish innovative learning opportunities and partnerships, and pursue external funding.
The Department offers a number of degrees, including an MPH in health policy, MS in health services research, a Master in Health Administration (MHA), executive MHA, MS in the Management of Health Informatics and Analytics (online) and doctoral programs including a DrPH in health policy and a PhD program in public policy with a concentration in health policy. Department faculty are engaged in a wide variety of externally funded research projects focusing on population health, social determinants of health, health system reform, health care financing and pricing, healthcare quality, healthcare access and disparities, health equity, and health workforce issues.
The department supports a broad population health focused research and practice-based agenda that may encompass cross-disciplinary research, collaboration with multi-sector practitioners, and specialized health research. Additionally, collaboration opportunities with the George Washington University's Department of Computer Science and Engineering and the Schools of Business, Medicine and Nursing are encouraged.Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have a Ph.D. or other terminal doctoral degree in an allied field such as healthcare management, health services research, population health, health information management, health informatics or business administration. Applicants also must have the ability to teach health management, leadership, and related courses, and must demonstrate the ability to conduct externally funded research. Applicants must have knowledge of the significant policy challenges that confront health care delivery systems as well as experience with MHA program management.
