Duties: The Grants Manager in the Department of Neurology will provide pre and post award research and financial administration support for individual investigators within department. Responsibilities include proposal preparation, budget development, subcontract setup and monitoring, transaction approval and monitoring, reporting, and business services for research investigators. The Grants Manager will work on R01, R21, T32, P20 and P30 grants and will negotiate budgets with pharmaceutical companies and industry. Function as resource for sponsored program guidelines, policies and procedures. Act as liaison with Perelman School of Medicine administration, Research Services and Penn Center for Innovation. Reports to the senior administrator within department and has a dotted reporting line to the PSOM Office of Research Support Services.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree in accounting or other business field and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. A thorough knowledge of University of Pennsylvania sponsored research guidelines and policies is required. Experience in general accounting practices is required. Strong skills in spreadsheet, database, and word processing software are required. Experience with PennERA, BEN Financial, Pennworks and Business Objects is strongly preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills are required. Ability to work independently, under pressure of deadlines, demonstrates attention to detail and a proactive work style are required.
