VICE PRESIDENT FOR STUDENT AFFAIRS
Southern Methodist University (SMU), a nationally ranked private university located near the heart of Dallas, seeks a visionary and visible leader, adept at both strategy and operations, to serve as its next Vice President for Student Affairs. Reporting to the President, the Vice President will play a pivotal role in shaping and overseeing the efforts to implement the vision for student affairs at SMU. The Vice President will lead with trust and transparency to shape and promote the aspiration of a fully integrated student experience and enhance the connections between the curricular and co-curricular dimensions of student life.

The Division of Student Affairs provides guidance, support services, educational programs, and social activities intended to complement the academic pursuits of students. The Division’s commitment to the holistic development of students is evident in its signature Residential Commons program, a living-learning community housing all first- and second-year students as well as faculty-in-residence. This program, among many other initiatives, demonstrates the Division’s critical role as educators, advisors, and mentors dedicated to assisting students in realizing their full potential.
This position is a tremendous opportunity for a seasoned professional to lead SMU’s Division of Student Affairs and to work closely with colleagues across campus to provide an integrated, engaging, and inclusive student experience. The successful candidate will be an inspiring leader and an effective advocate and ally for SMU students and the Student Affairs staff, leading the University’s efforts to provide the very best student experience. The position requires a leader with vision, a thorough understanding of best practices in student affairs, and the skills and experience necessary to manage a large budget and complex organization.
