General Summary of Position:
The Gift Operations Assistant has an essential role in daily gift entry of all donations received by the University. Gift Operations involves a tremendous amount of high-level negotiating, problem-solving and people skills. This skill-set includes, but is not limited to, helping with the interpreting and honoring of donor intent; interfacing with UMass Lowell business units, and UMass system constituencies; coordinating business and technical demands. The position reports to the Director of Endowments and Gift Operations.

- Preparation, entry and verification of all gifts; management of cash, in-kind, credit card, payroll deduction, matching gifts and other gift tenders in high-volume, fast-growing pledge-enabled environment. Maintain confidentiality of discussions and written records containing proprietary and sensitive financial and personal information on donors, prospective donors, corporations and foundations, and volunteers.

- Produce acknowledgements and receipts that result from pledge and gift entry for completeness of accuracy before distribution from Advancement Services.

- Prepare and process employer matching gift forms for signature by the Director of Endowments and Gift Processing.

- Assist with demographic data maintenance duties, as well as supporting other business and administrative activities within Advancement Services as needed.

- Participate in Advancement-wide projects, meetings, events, retreats.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):
- High school diploma or GED (or equivalent) required,
plus minimum of one year's related experience in a relevant professional business, educational, or nonprofit organization, preferably with fund raising database software
- The ability to work effectively with diverse groups
- Strong office technology skills a must
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office required

Other Considerations:
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and organizational abilities, attention to detail, task completion, communication skills, and ability to balance multiple priorities

- Experience in accurate and efficient data entry, organizing and maintaining communications files and financial records

- Ability to work well with others and to represent Advancement and the University in a highly capable and professional manner to the public, to faculty and staff members, and to donor and other constituencies
