WVU School of Medicine, Department of Medicine seeks a board-certified pulmonary critical care medicine physician to serve as Section Chief of the Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine service. Successful candidates must have an MD, MD/PhD or DO degree (the employer accepts foreign educational equivalent) and be eligible to obtain an unrestricted West Virginia medical license.  Candidates must have completed an accredited fellowship in pulmonary medicine as well as pulmonary critical care medicine and be Board Certified though the ABIM in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.  Applicants should have strong leadership skills to oversee programmatic and faculty development and a strong interest in the development of a scholarly academic division. Responsibilities also include providing excellent patient care and active involvement in education programs. This position allows you to pursue your academic goals through educating future physicians and participating in clinical research projects with CTSI support.

The Department of Medicine’s mature pulmonary critical care medicine fellowship accepts three fellows per year. The 11 faculty see patients in a robust clinic along with APP support. There are special programs for adult cystic fibrosis, lung cancer, ALS and COPD/asthma. Other out-patient sites include an outreach clinic in Preston County, the VA Medical Center, and a sleep center. The faculty see and manage the care of inpatients in the new 28-bed MICU. The Pulmonary Consult team provides consultative service to the many inpatient admitting services in the hospital. Typical Interventional bronchoscopy services include EBUS navigational bronchoscopy and stent and laser therapy. Opportunities exist for research collaboration with NIOSH/CDC, adjacent to the medical center campus, on a multitude of respiratory diseases.
