SENIOR RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
The Senior Research Associate Supports the operation of the Institutional Effectiveness function in developing and implementing a systematic institutional research program to provide critical information to College decision makers and outside agencies. Assists faculty and staff in developing and implementing the technical and administrative aspects of research projects and activities related to assessment, planning and grants development and evaluation. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to collecting, compiling, validating, organizing, interpreting and analyzing data and trends using standard practices and techniques; collaborating with college personnel in developing and implementing the technical and administrative aspects of research, planning, outcomes assessments, evaluation studies and schedules for the collection of data; developing and managing the development, administration and analysis of survey instruments; mining data, extracting and organizing statistical and narrative data from appropriate sources including Ellucian’s Colleague; summarizing, analyzing and presenting data for incorporation into text, tabular or graphical form; preparing standardized data files for mandatory reporting to external agencies; preparing formal research reports and briefs for internal dissemination and in response to external requests; responding to ad-hoc data requests; performing additional tasks or duties as assigned.
Required: Master’s degree in Education Psychology, Psychology, Economics, Political Science or related field. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in social science research, including research design, statistics, data analysis and report preparation. Experience in an institutional research setting or research in higher education issues preferred. Must have strong skills in statistics, research design and methodology, including survey research; must have demonstrated ability to organize and structure data in meaningful formats for analysis and reporting, including the ability to match and merge files and interpret output; must have proficiency in the full use of the Microsoft Office suite and in database and statistical software, e.g., SPSS; must have ability to import/export files between platforms and software and the use of spreadsheet and word processing packages is essential; must have ability to work with large and complex datasets; must demonstrate understanding of the community college mission and practice an open door policy; must have strong attention to and tolerance for detail, balanced with the ability to see the “big picture”; must exhibit strong skills in communication, customer and student focus, building relationships, organizing, project management and planning.
