Lecturer (Doctoral Schedule) - Bioeducator (Biological Sciences)
FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Lecturer will teach mainly at the undergraduate level in the Department of Biological Sciences. The successful candidate will be expected to modify courses and assess the modifications for improved student learning. In addition, he/she will instruct and advise students in transition to Hunter College from the Manhattan/Hunter Science High School. Opportunities to establish and/or sustain active, independent programs of extramurally funded research in science pedagogy at the college and/or secondary school level will be provided. The research focus should dovetail with the educational mission of Hunter College, to provide a rigorous and well-rounded education to a diverse, urban population.
Ph.D. degree in biology, biology/sciences education, or a related discipline. Ability to teach successfully is required. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, (including the integration of technology into the classroom), demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
Comfort with teaching anatomy, physiology, and evolution is highly encouraged.
