The Assistant Director of Marketing, Culinary and Hospitality Services reports to the Senior Director. The Assistant Director of Marketing is responsible for development and execution of departmental marketing strategies, community outreach and media relations and provides direction in the development of sales strategies and programs to increase revenue. Responsible for the development of consistent University-wide departmental branding, to include signage, website, and social media programs.

Responsibilities include:

Develop and implement a strategic, year-round, market-driven communications program (including advertising/collateral development, web site/social media marketing, and campaign for dining halls, meal plans, and retail concepts across both campuses of KSU. Ensure consistent, quality implementation of the Culinary and Hospitality Services department's brand throughout the organization so that all contacts with CHS provide a consistent, positive experience for students, faculty, staff and the community. Supervises up to six full-time and part-time employees.

Plan, coordinate, and implement activities and events throughout the year, as well as provide necessary marketing pieces for events and activities. Builds and maintains strong relationships with KSU stakeholders, campus partners/vendors, and surrounding community to accomplish goals and objectives.

Ensure that messages are communicated effectively to targeted constituents as well as the general public. Maintain an interactive website as a communications tool and resource for the Culinary and Hospitality Services Department. Plan, direct, implement and evaluate market research to support the department mission, vision and strategic goals.

Conduct community outreach programs; create and execute award submissions; plan, develop and conduct professional presentations. Develop and implement procedures to ensure proper documents, records and photos are kept as a means of preserving the history of the Culinary and Hospitality Services.

Measure the results of departmental marketing programs and gaining customer feedback. Builds and maintains strong relationships with campus partners to accomplish goals and objectives. Accountable for achieving financial results through teams' efforts and ensures expenses are in line with budget and have a positive ROI.

Contingent funding: Funding for this position is based on revenue generated funds and therefore continued employment is based on availability of these funds

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of related work experience OR 7+ years related work experience.

Preferred qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration or related field and 3+ in a marketing related role preferred.

Knowledge of social media strategy and experience with current platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest, etc.

Strong communication skills (both oral and written), and the ability to communicate with a variety of levels of internal and external customers. Effective sales and presentation skills are also required.

Must be a self starter, possess ability to work independently with low supervision and manage multiple projects and assignments at once.

This position must be skilled in relationship building and have a customer service mindset.
