Manager, Professional Learning Customer Care and Business Development

Primary Function of Organization Unit: Industry Expansion Solutions (IES), which is part of the College of Engineering (COE) and reports directly to the Dean, performs a primary economic development function for the state of North Carolina by helping existing businesses industries better utilize current and emerging engineering, science, technology, and industrial management approaches to improve their competitiveness. IES applies knowledge, information, and education to provide resources that serve the interests of customers by enabling economic growth and development.
Essential Job Duties: This position will provide customer care for all IES products and services, and manage the daily customer operations for the IES Professional Learning and the Southeastern OSHA Training Institute Education Center Unit. The position will be responsible for ensuring exceptional customer service and quality learning environments, managing business development opportunities and collaborating with IES marketing staff, partnering with meaningful training organizations, administering the customer complaint and course evaluation process, and effectively managing third party instructors. This position will have supervisory responsibilities.
Department Required Skills: - Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (e.g.: Powerpoint, Word, Excel) or similar software. - Excellent customer service skills. - Ability to interact professionally with clients, and to communicate effectively verbally and through written communications. - Ability to serve as a primary point of contact for junior level employees and multiple stakeholders. - Ability to establish operational metrics and evaluate success and areas for improvement. - Periodic local travel may be expected as part of this position.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: - Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of adult education, or area relevant for non-credit professional programs. - Excellent organizational skills, and an ability to excel in a multi-tasking environment. - Ability to work with minimal supervision - Ability to lead a team environment. - Supervisory experience. - Experience working with, and providing support for, database systems.
