The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Princeton University invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate or more senior position. The position involves the development of numerical tools for the simulation of crack propagation and problems with evolving domains. The position will be in the Computational Mechanics Group and the research will be conducted under the direction of Prof. Maurizio M. Chiaramonte.
This is a one-year, full time appointment with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and continued funding. This position is subject to the University's background check policy.

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in a relevant science or engineering field, experience in scientific computing, finite element methods, and theoretical mechanics.
The desired skills for the position include knowledge of the finite element method and its mathematical theory, OO software development in C++ (including version control), experience with HPC, knowledge of scripting languages such as Python and Julia, and expertise in continuum mechanics. Additionally, familiarity with open source FE software, such as FEniCS or Deal.ii, as well as knowledge of fracture and configurational mechanics are a plus.
