Summary of Duties:
Washington State University invites applicants for a Writing Center Director and English Instructor at the WSU Tri-Cities campus. The Department of English has a single faculty and common curriculum across the Pullman, Tri-Cities, and Vancouver campuses of the WSU System. This position requires demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate level, effective communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with faculty and students. Strong candidates will have experience with composition theory and writing center pedagogy.

Primary responsibilities include overseeing everyday operations of the Writing Center, teaching an undergraduate writing consultant training course, hiring and supervising undergraduate writing consultants, managing the small group tutorial program, developing writing support programs and resources, and building a campus-wide outreach program. Instructional duties include teaching two writing/rhetoric/literature courses per semester.

Required Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Composition, English, English Education, or related field;
• A minimum of two years’ experience working in a college/university writing center;
• Knowledge of writing center theory and practice;
• A minimum of three years’ experience as a college-level writing instructor;
• Demonstrated experience supporting the success of first-generation, nontraditional, multilingual, and veteran students.
