Required Qualifications: M.D. or equivalent. American Board of Pathology Certification in Clinical Pathology and Certification/Eligibility Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine. Eligibility for New York State licensure. Eligibility for New York State Laboratory Certificate of Qualification. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Fellowship training and/or two years' experience in Transfusion Medicine. Demonstration of scholarly capability/research experience and teaching experience.
Responsibilities & Requirements: The Clinical Assistant Professor/Clinical Associate Professor will serve as assistant medical director of the Blood Bank/Transfusion Medicine, and will participate in the teaching and research missions of the Department.
Brief Description of Duties : Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a clinical pathologist with training in transfusion medicine to join the Department of Pathology. The applicant must have an MD(equivalent), be board certified in Clinical Pathology or AP/CP, board certified/eligible in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine, and obtain a New York State medical license as well as a NYS Laboratory Director Certificate of Qualification. The preferred candidate would have experience in Transfusion Medicine at an academic center as well as academic/clinical interests in related areas of Clinical Pathology.
Candidates must have strong analytical and consultative skills. They would serve as assistant director of Transfusion Medicine and would share on-call coverage in other areas of the Clinical Laboratories. The candidate will also participate in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows and be expected to engage in scholarly activities involving clinical, translational, or basic research. Academic rank at the Stony Brook University School of Medicine will be commensurate with experience and academic record.
Special Notes: This is a non-tenure track position, full time or part time position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
