The University of Virginia's School of Medicine Core Facilities seeks applicants for a tenure-ineligible Assistant Professor of Research Support serving as the Director of the Antibody Engineering Technology Core. The Core Director will work closely with the Faculty Director, the Associate Dean for Research Infrastructure, and the Office of Research Core Administration, along with other institutional research resources, to ensure integrated support for investigators, as well as efficient and effective scientific and fiscal management of the core. The individual must have strong interpersonal skills and be capable of interacting with a diverse group of scientists both in the University and with partners outside of the University. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting investigators with experimental design for monoclonal antibody production and selection, as well as for training investigators how to perform protocols as needed. They will also consult with investigators regarding service needs and provide ongoing management of lab technicians through the development of performance goals, feedback, and training for new or advanced protocols.
Successful applicants must have a PhD in the biological sciences and one year of experience in the field of monoclonal antibody production working with monoclonal antibody utilization, screening and assay development, antibody functionalization/modification, as well as the use of recombinant technology phage display for monoclonal antibody production, humanization technologies or selection of fully human recombinant antibodies.
Candidates seeking a tenure-ineligible position may be eligible to convert to tenure-track at an appropriate time in the future, consistent with SOM Promotion and Tenure guidelines and candidate qualifications.
