This position is located in Analytics, Systems & Applications (ASA), within the division of Information Resources & Technology (IRT). Position Description:
  • Reporting analysts work with the Business Intelligence Analysts to improve institutional effectiveness and innovation across the functional areas of the University.
  • Reporting analysts are expected to develop solid knowledge of Rowan University's systems of record, database functionality and processes, and work with linked systems and/or processes. They expertly utilize systems and reporting tools to produce strategic views of data.
Responsibilities:
  • Work with Business Intelligence Analysts to identify and prioritize data collections, ensure data validity and integrity.
  • Perform ad-hoc queries based on multiple databases consisting of higher education data using SQL within Oracle Database.
  • Create Cognos reports based on technical and functional requirements from internal and external clients.
  • Participate in team code reviews and quality checks.
  • Develop dashboard solutions for high-level analyses.
  • Work with ASA team and the Rowan community to ensure Banner and EDW/ODS data integrity.
  • Create and maintain documentation for all new and revised reports.


Some evening, weekend, and holiday work is required for this position. Education and Experience Qualifications (Required):
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • One (1) year of experience in enterprise/complex applications development and support. Must be able to demonstrate programming ability and software architecture competency.
Education and Experience Qualifications (Preferred):
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in enterprise/complex applications development and support. Must be able to demonstrate programming ability and software architecture competency.
Education and Experience Qualifications (Desired):
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in enterprise/complex applications development and support, working with relational databases. Must be able to demonstrate programming ability and software architecture competency.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to write complex SQL inquiries
  • Strong analytical and data management skills
  • Demonstrated experience using any Business Intelligence reporting tool (Cognos preferred)
  • Aptitude to plan, organize, and work on multiple tasks simultaneously an in multidisciplinary teams
  • Higher education experience a plus.
