Lake Forest College seeks a part-time department assistant providing support for the Center for Chicago Programs. Responsibilities will include the planning, organization, and coordination of special events sponsored by the Center; supervising student workers employed by the Center; processing honoraria requests made by faculty, updating the Center’s webpage(s); coordinating the sale of Metra 10-Ride passes and student reimbursements; and other duties connected to the Center’s strategic priorities. This is a grant funded position approved through December 31, 2018.

Qualifications include:

  • Previous administrative/secretarial experience
  • Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Willingness to take initiative and follow-through on projects
  • Ability to work effectively with students, staff and faculty
  • Familiarity with Chicago, as well as its public transportation system (preferred)

This appointment is for 20 hours per week for the academic calendar, late August to mid-May, with time off for holidays and College breaks. This position is not eligible for benefits.
